Lion Paintings

I have a thing for lions… one day, I will buy lion statues for my front yard, haha.

During my shamanic journey class, I was visited by an Indian who was dancing around a fire wearing an Asian lion mask. At first I though it was a Chinese dragon, but ran into a statue with the same face the very next day on an out of town trip and found out it was a lion, lol. For me, the Asian lion (Foo dog) represents protection. So I dedicated a painting to this amazing experience, and made wood block prints for my journey class. I included Hank Wesselman’s prayer of protection on the back ❤

This is a painting I will probably keep and only make prints of because of the personal value and experience. The funny thing is, that is pretty much all I paint – things that mean something to me!

My next lion painting is still a work in progress, so I will update this post as I paint!

I chose to go with a more traditional lion this time around.. thinking about creating a series of these with a white and then a black lion!
