We have been given an opportunity to show our work at the upcoming Day of the Dead art exhibit at the Urban Art Gallery in Salt Lake City during October 2013! I am really excited to be showing some of my paintings this year (usually I am showing my photography). Not too long ago, I ran into a three for one sale at a local craft store on some large canvas… of course I bought ALL of the biggest canvas I could find. I even had my husband take my picture… I don’t think I have ever had this much canvas at one time, haha. This was awesome because I couldn’t have and wouldn’t have bought them if they were not on sale. Little did I know that they would come to me at the perfect timing to create the pieces for this show. I love painting on BIG canvas… unfortunately they do not sell as little, more affordable pieces. Any money that I do receive from these paintings, will go straight to my college education.
In the mean time, mark your calendars for this show! Oct 18th 2013

And here are some of the finished pieces…
Skeleton Cat (below): This one turned out looking like it should be on the cover of a children’s book to me, LOL. Maybe I will eventually write one for it… this is one mischievous cat!
Besides painting, I am also working on a “La Catrina” Day of the Dead/ Dia De Los Muertos sculpture. Here are some BTS Photos of the process:
