Todd and I planned a trip to Vegas this month… which we tend to do every 2-3 months, well not to Vegas, but somewhere close by and random, lol. We decided to go see O – Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio. Like so many other weekends, I was hoping this was the one he would pop the question, and was sure this had to be it. After all, we already have our honeymoon planned in Italy this summer. When you know it’s coming, how do you not play the scenario in your head over and over? haha. Here is our story of our Vegas trip and the night Todd proposed…
The drive there, I think I talked the whole time (yada, yada, yada)… and I know I repeat myself a lot, but Todd mentioned each time he will hear something new in my stories, lol. We stop for one tank of gas somewhere in the middle and whalaa, we are in Vegas in no time. Oh.. and all of the shots throughout this post are from my Iphone… we didn’t end up taking out the our 5D Mark II.
We rarely book a hotel room in advance, and usually find one after we get wherever we are going… Motel 6 was less than $60 a night, which is great… more money to play on the tables, lol. I was quite surprised that the room was so contemporary, and wish I got a shot of it, but I didn’t. Anyways, time to go stop by the Bellagio to grab our show tickets and play a few slots (which I will NEVER do again). I think I lost $40 within 5 minutes… I called myself a “big loser” and then felt like Todd wasn’t going to ask me to marry him for sure that night, lol. We sat down, ordered a drink, and got back to being romantic, hehe.
We decide to go for a walk, and head outside just in time to see the water show in front of the Bellagio. “Your Song” by Elton John is playing… which I thought was romantic. It always reminds me of the movie Moulin Rouge, which is one of my favorite movies. I imagine Todd asking me right then, and notice he reaches back into his pocket. Come to find out, he was thinking about it, but there were too many people around. So the song ends, and I think to myself… he’s going to wait until tomorrow night, lol. So we keep walking. And Todd, continuing our romantic weekend stops to kiss me. Of course I am being silly and taking pictures of everything the whole time to document our trip 🙂
So we keep walking, and we are close to the Italy section of the strip. We come up to a fountain where I decide to randomly throw in a nickel and make a wish. Since I thought Todd wasn’t going to ask me that night because of my big loser comments, I wished for a big jackpot. Todd asked me what I wished for, and I said I couldn’t tell him or it wouldn’t come true! Then he said, well let me see if I can make your wishes come true and then kneels down right there and asks me to marry him!!!!!!! I knew it was going to happen this weekend, but he caught me by surprise and I yelled “Shut up!!” hehe, then “YESS!!”. So yeah, I told him we should leave that part of the story out because that is not the way I wanted to respond to his proposal, lol.. but there it is, that is what I said. When I imagined it happening, one scenario (in my head) I started bawling, another I jumped into his arms… but when it happened I yelled shut up, yes, kissed him, and then took more iPhone pictures to document everything, LOL.
He gave me this beautiful ring that I actually partially designed about a year ago. It is not your usual ring… I will post picture of it at the end of this blog within the next few days 🙂
The next day, we decide to go back to the casino to play a little before our show started… but never any slots ever again!! This time we found one out of the two $5 black jack tables in the whole casino. The dealer was sweet, and taught us when the books say to split/hit/double down, etc. I’ve played black jack before, but it’s been 4-5 years and I couldn’t remember all the rules, lol. Needless to say, we had a much more fun time loosing our money this way than stupid slot machines, haha.
Soon enough, it is time to go to our show and we head towards the show room.. and it was awesome walking in!
It was dark in there, but I took our picture anyways, lol. There is no photography allowed during the show, so you will have to check out some photos on their website. Under the top image, it says photo tour and just click the arrow: http://www.bellagio.com/o-cirque-du-soleil/o-cirque-du-soleil.aspx
Fantastic show btw!! I picked up some souvenirs 🙂
Our drive home was nice too, we actually drove through a tiny corner of Arizona where we stopped by to grab a few Power-ball tickets (can’t play in Utah or Nevada) and was home just in time to get my girls (from a weekend at their dad’s house). Of course they are thrilled that we are getting married and to have Todd as their official Step dad soon.
More wedding details coming soon!
